“QUAN ĐÁM” RECEPTION AND HANDOVER CEREMONY

On January 24, 2024 (ie December 14, Giáp Thìn (dragon) year – Lunar Calendar),  the People's Committee, the Fatherland Front Committee and the Elderly Association of Cổ Loa commune coordinated with the Management Department of Cổ Loa vestige site to hold a ceremony to receive and hand over the Quan Đám (Temple caretaker).

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Ngo Van Nam - Deputy Director of the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center, Mr. Hoang Cong Huy - Deputy Head of the Co Loa Relic Management Board, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhan - Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Co Loa Commune, Mr. Hoang Cong Tuy - Chairman of the Elderly Association of Co Loa Commune, Leaders of departments under the Management Board and the Funeral Officer for the 2023 and 2024 terms.

Previously, the Party Committee - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Co Loa commune held a conference to elect the Quan Dam. After the villages nominated (from 3 to 4 people aged 55 to 70), the conference considered the basic criteria of a complete family, no mourning, no disabilities, no social evils and elected Mr. Nguyen Dang Dung in Mit village as Quan Dam of My Chau hermitage, Mr. Truong Van Chinh in Ga village continued to be Quan Dam of Thuong temple.

The conference to nominate the Quan Dam; The rituals of "sending off the old - welcoming the new"; The ceremony of receiving and handing over the Quan Dam are long-standing customs of the ancient capital region, a unique cultural beauty of the people here, maintained, preserved, promoted and passed down to generations by the people of Co Loa.
