Co Loa, the sacred land with extraordinary people, was chosen twice as the capital in the early building and defense of the nation, namely, Au Lac in the 3rd century BC and the monarchy of Ngo Quyen in the 10th century, set the foundation for the lasting independence and autonomy of the nation. Co Loa's people always had a patriotism, a desire for freedom, and a devotion to the Party and Uncle Ho.

In the August Revolution in 1945, Co Loa was the Safety Zone (ATK) – where protected the Central Office and Party cadres to supply concrete guidance to the nationwide revolutionary movement. Co Loa also was the first commune in Dong Anh district to rise up in arms. In the struggles to protect the country, Co Loa was a base of resistance and a solid rear that encouraged hundreds of people to enlist to kill the enemy, contributing to the victory of Dien Bien Phu in 1954, The Great 1975 Spring Victory, the victory in the war to protect the Southwest border and the Northern border.

In those wars, Co Loa had 246 martyrs, 26 Mothers awarded by the State as Vietnamese Heroic Mother, 100 wounded and sick soldiers. They are shining examples of the revolutionary spirit and quality, sacrifice for the country’s liberation.

In the cause of building the nation towards industrialization, modernization and international integration, Co Loa people and the whole country always remember the merit of heroic martyrs, wounded, sick soldiers, who had dedicated themselves to the country’s liberation, construction, and protection. Co Loa people commit to join hands to protect, preserve and promote the tangible and intangible cultural values on the historic Co Loa land while develop the socio-economic, infrastructure towards the realization of by 2025, Dong Anh will become an urban district of Hanoi city.
