THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AUGUST REVOLUTION (19/8/1945 – 19/8/2020)

In 1858, the French colonialist attacked our country. Under the rule of French colonialism and the feudalism, Vietnamese people, especially farmers, lived in a dark life. To bring into play the patriotic tradition of fighting against foreign invaders from our ancestors, Co Loa people together with the whole country revolted against oppression, actively participated in the anti-French movement led by patriotic scholars.

On February 3, 1930, the Vietnamese Communist Party was established. In February 1938, the revolutionary cadres came to Co Loa to set up a basis to promote activities, the revolutionary movement in Co Loa had a new development. Many families became a reliable and stable bases of the Party. In September 1939, the Tonkin Party Committee decided to set up the printing office of Giai Phong Newspaper at Co Loa. At the end of 1941, Co Loa and several communes in Dong Anh district were selected as the Safe Zone (ATK) - which protected the central agency, the Party's cadres who led the nationwide revolutionary movement. Co Loa became the base, the communication station of the Party Central Committee, a safe meeting point between the central and local levels, a safe contact point between the Central Standing Committee at ATK1 and the Viet Bac War Zone, Hanoi, Ha Dong and many other places from 1941 to 1945. Historical heritage sites such as the printing agency of Communist Party's Liberation Flag Newspaper, the communication station at Co Loa Communal House and the examples of heroic sacrifices to protect the ATK are still the pride of Co Loa people.

By August 1945, the anti-Japanese movement to save the country in Co Loa thrived with the increasing establishment of mass organizations such as Youth save the country, Women save the country, Children save the country. When the time for the revolution came, Tổ Việt Minh Cổ Loa took the initiative to lead the people to revolt to take power. During the August Revolution of 1945 in Phuc Yen province, Dong Anh was the first district and Co Loa was the first commune in the district to rise up. It is the pride, the mark that adorns the glorious historical tradition of the land with rich history and cultural traditions.

The success of the August Revolution in 1945 opened a new era for the Vietnamese people - the era of independence, freedom, and socialism. Co Loa people together with the people in Dong Anh district and the people of the whole country determine to build a stronger government, the government of the workers, for the people, write more glorious pages of Co Loa in the era of struggle and construction.
