According to a local folklore written in the book " Ngọc phả cổ lục ", 11th of the eighth month of the lunar calendar is the birthday of King An Dương Vương ((known in folklore as the birthday of Holy Ancestor). The preparation of all kinds of offerings and distribution to dignitaries and people on the King's birthday was clearly and strictly regulated in the book "Traditions of Cổ Loa Commune, Đông Anh District, Cổ Loa Canton, Phúc Yên Province" as follows:

According to the old custom, on the 11th of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, the offerings in the upper altar were a vegetarian meal, in the lower altar there was black pork with black buffalo meat, sticky rice, wine, banh chung, floating cakes, and banning singing.

On the 11th of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, 13 villages offer a ceremony including 1 set of sticky rice, 100 green bananas, 12 pieces of betel nut, 1 bottle of wine, and 100 votive papers. After the sacrifice, the commune only keeps betel nut and while the rest is distributed to the villages.

On the 11th of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, the commune bought 2 pigs each about 60 “quan” (The ancient Vietnamese currency unit), 10 bottles of wine, 100 areca berries or 300 pieces of dried areca, 6 sets of sticky rice. Money for the ceremony is taken from "2 mẫu 1 sào" (equal to 7560 m2, “mẫu, sào” are the old units of measurement) of the sacrificial field, also located in Đàm Cự, and sticky rice is 2 sets, 100 green bananas. After the sacrifice was completed, 13 villages were brought back, according to the custom of the 7th of the third month of the lunar calendar.

On the 11th of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, the elders offered sacrifices.

After the ceremony, treat people in 13 villages with 1 pig, divided equally into 6 parts, 2 pork legs and meat divided equally into 13 portions. Now according to the number of people, the plural gets more, the few get less. The rules are made for everyone to follow.

After the ceremony, treats Tư Văn Thần Huệ with 1 set of sticky rice, 1 pig, divided into 10 portions and given 5 portions, 10 areca nut, 20 pieces of dried areca, and drinking wine were equally divided as a worker.

After the ceremony, treats the elder to 1 pig's leg, divided into 3, give 1 part, 1 set of sticky rice divided into 10 parts, given 5 portions, 3 areca nut or 12 pieces of dried areca.

After the ceremony, gives 3 postmen 1 pig leg or 1 piece of chicken or 1 piece of buffalo meat, 1 plate of sticky rice, 3 areca nut or 3 pieces of dried areca.

After the ceremony, give Thủ Chỉ Điển Văn, 1 piece of buffalo or 1 piece of pork, 1 plate of sticky rice, 3 areca nut or 3 pieces of dried areca.

After the ceremony, give the small officials 1 piece of buffalo meat or pork, 3 areca berries, and 3 pieces of dried areca.

After the ceremony, give Cựu Mục 1 pound of pork or buffalo meat, 1 thigh, 1 set of sticky rice, equally divided into 10 portions, give 5 portions, 10 areca nut, 10 pieces of dried areca.

After the ceremony, give Chánh Tổng a pig's leg, 1 piece of buffalo, 1 set of sticky rice, 3 areca nut, 3 pieces of dried areca.

After the ceremony, give Chánh phó Lý Trưởng and Tri Thu (Treasurer) 1 pork leg, 3 areca berries, 6 pieces of dried areca, or 1 piece of buffalo meat, and 1 plate of sticky rice.

After the ceremony, give Dịch Mục 1 piece of buffalo meat or pork about 200g, 1 plate of sticky rice, 1 areca nut, and 1 piece of dried areca.

On the 11th of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, singing for half a day, 10 “quan” and treating “trùm an”, 3 “quan”.
