DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN–RURAL DEVELOPMENT OF GUANGXI (CHINA) VISITS AND SURVEYS THE CÔ LOA RELIC SITE

On November 28, 2025, a delegation from the Department of Housing and Urban–Rural Development of Guangxi, China, visited and conducted a survey at the Cô Loa Relic Site, managed by the Thăng Long – Hà Nội Heritage Conservation Center. The visit aimed to study the heritage management model, restoration – conservation practices, and value promotion of this Special National Historical Site.
During the working session, representatives of the Cô Loa Relic Site Management Board presented an overview of the historical and cultural significance as well as the unique structure of the Cổ Loa Citadel – the capital of the ancient Âu Lạc State in the 3rd–2nd centuries BCE.
The delegation also learned about ongoing preservation projects, including the restoration of the An Dương Vương Temple area, My Châu Shrine, and Ngự Triều Di Quy Communal House; current exhibition and educational activities; and strategies for sustainable cultural tourism development.

Representatives from the Guangxi Department highly appreciated the conservation efforts dedicated to the Cô Loa complex – a heritage site closely associated with the formation of the Vietnamese people and early Vietnamese civilization. They also expressed interest in strengthening professional exchanges in areas such as traditional architectural restoration, heritage-space management within expanding urban contexts, and the development of cultural tourism.

Mr. Hoàng Công Huy, Deputy Head in charge of the Cô Loa Relic Site Management Board, presents a gift to Mr. Yang Lufeng (Dương Lục Phong), Director of the Department.

At the conclusion of the survey, both sides agreed to maintain cooperation and explore opportunities for collaboration in research, training, and sharing experiences in heritage conservation.
The visit by the Guangxi Department of Housing and Urban–Rural Development contributes to enhancing international cooperation in the field of heritage conservation and reaffirms the role of the Cô Loa Relic Site as one of the key centers for cultural research and education of Hà Nội in particular and Vietnam in general.
