On May 24, 2022, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism made Decision No. 1200/QD-BVHTTDL on archaeological excavations. In which, the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center in collaboration with the Institute of Archeology is allowed to excavate at the expected location of the Ngo Quyen temple in the special national relic Co Loa, Co Loa commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi.
- Expected excavation time: From May 27, 2022 to August 25, 2022.
- Excavation area: 100m2 (including 10 digs x 10m2/dig).
- Head of excavation team: Mr. Trinh Hoang Hiep, Institute of Archeology.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism suggested that during excavation, implementing agencies need to protect the stratigraphy of the archaeological dig site; propagate the protection of cultural heritage to local people, and announce the official conclusions only with the agreement of the management agency and the Department of Cultural Heritage. And these agencies are responsible for reporting to the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to protect and promote the value of artifacts that collected in the excavation.
After excavation, make a preliminary report and propose a plan for management and protection of the excavated area within one month and a scientific report within one year, and submitted it to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Before announcing the results of the excavation, the agency that is granted the permit shall discuss and agree with the Department of Cultural Heritage.
