The delegates respectfully offered incense to commemorate the merits of King Ngo Quyen - the king who had the merit of ending more than a thousand years of Northern domination and ushering in a period of independence and self-reliance for the nation.

King Ngo Quyen (897-944) was born and raised in Cam Lam village, Duong Lam commune, Son Tay town, Hanoi. From a young age, he was raised in his homeland of heroic tradition, trained in bow and sword, was both good at literature and martial arts, was given a daughter by General Duong Dinh Nghe and assigned to take care of the land of Ai Chau.

After defeating the Southern Han invaders on the Bach Dang River, in the spring of 939, the national hero Ngo Quyen with foresight established a new dynasty - the Ngo dynasty, set up the capital in Co Loa to continue the independence from the reign of An Duong Vuong with the intention of "resuming tradition and unifying the country". Ngo Quyen proclaimed Vuong, quickly restored and renewed the country. The great merits of King Ngo Quyen in the historical process of building and defending the country will be remembered forever. After his death, the people built a temple.
