THE HERITAGE EDUCATION PROGRAM "LEARNING ABOUT CO LOA VESTIGE SITE HISTORY"

The vestiges of antique Co Loa Citadel is the Special National Monument, it is located in Đong Anh District, about 17km from the North of Ha Noi city center. Co Loa has twice been the capital of the country, which under the reign of King An Duong Vuong (3rd century BC) and the reign of King Ngo Quyen (10th century AD), still preserving and maintaining tangible and intangible cultural values.

Come to Co Loa, visitors can also visit the complex of historical sites with the oldest system of walls and moats in Southeast Asia, which brings unique military value and  experience the cultural characteristic landscape of Northern Vietnam countryside.

The Heritage Education Program “Learning about Co Loa Vestige Site History” has been developed methodically with the advice of experts and  experimental organizations. At the same time, it is closely coordinated and directed by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, aiming to be widely deployed in schools in Hanoi.

The Heritage Education program at Co Loa relic site aims to promote the value of intangible cultural heritages of Co Loa, and at the same time, to equip more knowledge of national culture and history, to create interest in social science subjects, through experiences, it helps practice teamwork, information processing, softskills in life, as well as creating conditions for students to approach and have practical experience at the relic site, thereby contributing to fostering patriotism, national pride, and respect for traditional values in the hearts of the young generation.

Learning history, architecture with tour guide at Co Loa vestige site

Co Loa citadel which built with earth from the reign of An Duong Vuong, Au Lac state (III-II centuries BC), consists of 3 closed citadel, has the largest scale in Southeast Asia

Temple of King An Duong Vuong (Thuong temple): according to legend, it is palace of King An Duong Vuong. The temple was built around the XVII-XVIII centuries

Exhibition house: introducing nearly 200 documents and artifacts dating from 3,500 years to the present day

Ngu Trieu Di Quy Communal House: built in 1892. In a place legendarily known as the former royal court of An Duong Vuong and Ngo Quyen.

Learning characters and events: King An Duong Vuong, General Cao Lo, Princess My Chau, Kim Quy God... in Vietnam historical context in the Au Lac period; the event that King Ngo Quyen ascended to the throne, chose Co Loa as the capital, and resumed the national unity.

Learning about the function, scale, architecture and art of building of wall and moat.

Learning about architecture, art of temple and communal house Le and Nguyen Dynasties.

Experience activities at the vestige site
