The archaeological site of Tien Hoi in Bai Gieng is located in the northeast of Tien Hoi village, Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi. Tien Hoi is a place associated with the legend that An Duong Vuong built Co Loa citadel, where fairies gathered to carry the earth to build the citadel. Therefore, the field was named Tien Hoi and after the people came to establish a village, it was called Tien Hoi.

The entire area of Tien Hoi site is about ten thousand square meters. The absolute altitude of Tien Hoi is from 6m to 8m.

Opposite the site of Tien Hoi 1km and through the lagoon of Mach Trang are the Cau Vuc, Bai Men, and Dong Vong sites. Further on, across the Hoàng Giang river is the Co Loa citadel. Going down Hoang Giang to the northeast about 1.5km is the Duong May site, opposite from Duong May through Dam Ca is the Xuan Kieu site - a site with the same age as Tien Hoi site, from Duong May, down Hoang Giang about 1km further is Dinh Trang site. Dinh Trang is about 4km from Tien Hoi.

In February 1967, teachers and students of History Department, University of Hanoi discovered stone axes and some rough pottery pieces in Tien Hoi area. In January 1970, the site was identified and the History Department opened an 18m2 test pit. In 1970 and 1971, the University of Hanoi excavated Tien Hoi site. In 1970, the excavation area was 30m2, in 1971, three pits A, B, C were excavated with an area of 130m2 and four test pits, each of which was 4m2.

In June 1997, the Institute of Archeology investigated and opened a 2.5m2 test pit. The pit was opened at the eastern edge of Tien Hoi village, near Quan Thi communal house.

So far, Tien Hoi site has been tested and excavated 4 times with a total area of 197m2. Through the test and excavation pits, the stratigraphy of the Tien Hoi site is quite uniform and relatively stable.

The surveys in January 1970 (18m2) and March 1971 (16m2) did not have statistics on artifacts. The 3rd survey in June 1997 (2.5m2), very few artifacts: only 2 grinding stones, 1 natural stone; 178 pieces of coarse ceramic, 140 pieces of fine ceramic.

Two excavations in Tien Hoi have obtained 227 artifacts, including:

- Stoneware: 163 artifacts, including 118 production tools (axe, flint, drill bit, grinding stone, piece of stone with machining marks), 45 jewelry (pieces of rings, earrings, tubular beads).

- Bronze artifacts: 2 arrows, 1 bronze.

- Pottery: 139 intact artifacts including piece of pottery used for spinning thread, ceramic balls, ceramic feets, pots, cups and 17,544 pieces of pottery, of which 8,776 pieces can be classified.

Also found 1 piece of zinc, and 2 pieces of iron of unknown shape.

Tien Hoi is a residence site with a cultural layer, belonging to the group of transitional relics of the late Phung Nguyen period, dating from 3,300-3,500 years ago today.
