TRADITIONAL FESTIVAL OF ĐÀI BI VILLAGE – SPRING OF THE YEAR ẤT TỴ 2025
Ngày 27 tháng 11 Năm 2025

On the morning of February 6, 2025 (the 9th day of the First Lunar Month, Year Ất Tỵ), at Đài Bi Communal House, the Festival Organizing Committee inaugurated the 2025 Đài Bi Village Festival.
Đài Bi is one of the villages belonging to the Bát xã hộ nhi, also known as the Bát xã Loa Thành — an ancient land deeply imprinted with legends and historical tales from the era of King An Dương Vương’s nation-building. Adjacent to the Cổ Loa Citadel area, Đài Bi Village, like the other villages of the Loa Thành bát xã, worships King Thục Phán An Dương Vương as its Village Deity. According to village records and relics preserved at the site, Đài Bi Communal House honors both King An Dương Vương and Princess Mỵ Châu as tutelary deities. Throughout various feudal dynasties, the King and Princess Mỵ Châu were conferred the rank of Thượng đẳng thần (High Deities) and bestowed with many honorific titles.
As a village within the Bát xã Loa Thành, Đài Bi maintains a close connection to the joint ceremonial rites of the Eight Villages at the Upper Temple of Cổ Loa. The village’s participation in the Bát xã offering ceremony has been documented for generations. The arrangement of the altar dedicated to King An Dương Vương and Princess Mỵ Châu at Đài Bi Communal House closely resembles that of Cổ Loa and other villages in the Bát xã, such as Mạch Tràng, Thư Cưu, and Cầu Cả.
To honor the merits and virtues of King Thục An Dương Vương toward the nation and homeland, the people of Đài Bi annually participate in the festival held on the 6th day of the First Lunar Month with the villages of the ancient Bát xã Loa Thành. According to the ceremonial order of the Bát xã procession, Đài Bi is assigned the sixth position among the eight palanquin-bearing villages marching to the Upper Temple. Upon arrival, Đài Bi’s palanquin is placed on the western side of the temple yard. Together with Sằn Giã and Thư Cưu, Đài Bi is responsible for the ritual tasks of offering wine (phủng tước) and incense (phủng hương) during the ceremony dedicated to the King. Their procession contributes to the lively and solemn atmosphere of the Cổ Loa Festival, reflecting strong communal solidarity and attracting numerous participants.
Other villages of the Bát xã continue their own festivals at their communal houses after the 6th day of the First Lunar Month, following the traditional schedule until the 16th day. Đài Bi Village holds its festival on the 9th day to honor King Thục Phán An Dương Vương — the ruler who founded the Âu Lạc State in the earliest era of nation-building and defense. The structure of the Đài Bi Festival embodies the full characteristics of traditional village culture, featuring processions (together with the Bát xã Loa Thành), ritual offerings, ceremonies, and folk games typical of the Northern Delta region.
