On the morning of February 22, 2024 (ie January 13, the year of the Dragon), at the San Gia village cultural house, the Organizing Committee opened the San Gia village festival in 2024.
San Gia belongs to Co Loa commune, located northwest of Ngoai citadel, surrounded by rice fields on all four sides. San Gia village, whose colloquial name is San village, is divided into three hamlets: Upper hamlet, Lower hamlet and Chua hamlet. Legend has it that in the past, this was also one of the eight towns of Co Loa citadel, controlled by General Cao Pho Lan.
According to the elders in the village, the year of Nham Thin 1952 was the last year that the people of San village held a festival. The San village festival used to take place on January 9, with full rituals and folk games. Later, due to the resistance war against the French, the San communal house and pagoda were destroyed. After that, the people placed the altar and worshiping objects in the cultural house, and the pagoda was also built in another location. San village did not have the conditions to rebuild it, so the elders in the village only maintained attending the Co Loa festival and offering incense at the communal house. In 2015, the village was recognized as a cultural village and held its own festival on January 13 every year.
The San village festival in the spring of Binh Than in 2016 was a festival held again after more than 60 years of interruption. Therefore, the festival is limited in space, facilities and human resources to serve the rituals - offering incense and traditional folk games, culture and sports activities. Currently, on January 6, only 2 people participate in the procession and 2 people participate in the Bat Xa Loa Thanh festival.
