San Gia village, also known as San village in Nom, is located in the northwest, outside the outer citadel of the Co Loa relic site, surrounded by fields on all four sides. Previously, the village belonged to Van Loc commune, Dong Ngan district, Tu Son prefecture, Kinh Bac town (region). Currently, there are no written documents recording the formation process of the village. Legend has it that in the past, this was also one of the eight towns of Co Loa citadel, controlled by General Cao Pho Lan.
From the current main relic site, a large part of the villagers (mainly Le family) moved to Sep village (Ngoai Sat), so the remaining part of the village (mainly Nguyen family) is very small. The reason for this is because San village was originally located in the middle of a field, surrounded by rice fields on all four sides. When there was a policy of land concentration, the village was forced to relocate. Most of the people left, but some were determined to stay with the village, refusing to relocate to level the land into fields. Therefore, the number of households left here is very small.
Because it is also one of the eight communes of the village, every year the villagers of San and the other seven communes hold a procession from their village to the Upper Temple to attend the festival.
